What does it look like when you think of a place, as a service?
How can communities bypass the often clunky and long time frames of government processes to improve where they live?
How can people create and own the changes that is required to make their community thrive again?
What makes a great place to live?
We don’t know, but myself and Nick Williamson are trying to find out. The first stage in this process will be facilitating a service jam-style event in Te Karaka, a small township in Gisborne.
With a population of 500, Te karaka has had a rough time since the state highway circumnavigated it. This highly active community are looking to innovate and own the future of their town. We are hoping, that in some small way, we can be part of that journey and learn a lot in the process.
