After attending the Global Service Jam in Auckland in 2013, I returned to Wellington and started the Welly Gov Jams with Sherry McDonald and Sam Ng.
The concept was for vendors to give back to the service design community by providing design experts to facilitate the jams. These events were provided free of charge to government agencies and acted as a sand-box for both inexperienced and seasoned designers to come together, share knowledge and build capability.
Gov Jams have been identified as a key part of the capability building strategy for service design teams in the public sector and continue to happen with DNA currently leading the events.
