I worked with Stanford D-School alumni, Anne Gibbon, to plan and deliver two, four-day design thinking bootcamp for young leaders from Waikato-Tainui, Taranaki and Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei iwi. The programme took participants through foundational elements of the design thinking process, and built confidence and skills through a mixture of theory and practice-based exercises.
In the second iteration of the bootcamp, we increased our focussed on Tikanga Māori, and how the cohort could translate Māori values through the design thinking framework, and challenge a predominantly western, pākehā model.
In the follow up coaching sessions, I have been supporting Anne to help the Taranaki cohort to work through and deliver projects using the design thinking methodology.
